School uniform plays a vital role in promoting the ethos of a school, providing a sense of belonging and identity and setting an appropriate tone for education. By creating a common identity amongst all pupils, regardless of background, a school uniform can also act as a social leveller.
The “Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Act 2021” states that all stipulated school uniform items must be affordable for all and any branded items, purchased through uniform suppliers, offer value for money. This statutory guidance came into effect in September 2022.
The Aspire Uniform Policy, formed in part by parent/pupil voice, ensures each individual uniform offering across the trust is in line with this legislation and helps maintain the balance between affordability and upholding of school ethos and identity.
We expect our children to be dressed in the correct school uniform including a navy-blue cardigan or sweatshirt (logo optional) with white polo shirt (logo optional). Children should wear grey/black trousers/shorts or pinafore/skirt. There is the option to wear a blue/white gingham summer dress during spring and summer terms.
Hair must be clean, natural colour (not dyed) and tied back if long. Hair accessories such as slides, ribbons, bobbles, etc, should be fairly simple and preferably, in school colours.
Parents are asked to ensure that all items are labelled clearly with their child’s name.
For safety reasons we ask that the children do not wear jewellery in school with the exception of a wrist watch and small plain stud earrings.
For health & safety reasons it is important that children are properly dressed for physical activity. PE kit is worn to school on designated PE day(s).
